The Royal Majesty with chancellery and ministry

The Royal Majesty (Kunglig Majestät, Kungl. Maj:t or K.M:t) was in Sweden during the 1809 form of government (1809–1974) the organ of state that made decisions in the King's name. Most often it referred to the executive government, but also to the highest judiciary: the Supreme Court (Högsta domstolen) and the Supreme Administrative Court (Högsta förvaltningsdomstolen).

In the formal sense, it was the king who signed all decisions in government matters after the king's appointed adviser (ministers) presented him errands in the Council of State. The Royal Majesty was abolished in 1974 and replaced by the government.

The Chancellery of the Royal Majesty (Kunglig Majestäts kansli) is the name used until 1974 at the current Government Offices, with its division into ministries. The chancellery has roots back to Gustav Vasa, but from 1626 the chancellery was arranged as an government agency (ämbetsverk).
